The state of Montana has a blacklist of 4,142 forbidden license plate numbers. After browsing through this list, it’s clear why many of them are banned. But even a thorough Google search didn’t provide any explanation for why the others are forbidden.

Apparently, no one in Montana should be trying to pass themselves off as Bond.
2. 007LOO
A Google search for 007LOO produced nothing, but it’s apparently a banned Montana license plate.
3. OFP
This is what my Google search produced: Operational Flight Plan, Order Fulfillment Process, Over Fill Protection, Operations Funded Project.
We need help from you figuring out why this one made the list.
4. OHS
We’re not sure, but this may be forbidden because it could be mistaken for Operation Health & Safety. Any ideas?
5. 0JEEPRS
This could be a cute Montana vanity plate for a Jeep. Unfortunately, it’s blacklisted.
6. 0JOY
There must be a reason for this one, but we really can’t see it.
7. OSU
This couldn’t be a reference to Oregon State University, could it?
8. 100YRS
Again, could it be a reference to a local business? We just can’t say.
9. 1PRCNT
It’s forbidden in Montana to place the phrase “1PRCNT” on your license plate, but we’re not exactly sure why.
10. 2D0GZF
Could this one be a reference to local gang activity? We can only wonder.
11. 3PRCNT
Same as “1PRCNT” – it’s forbidden.
12. 5CNTZ
This definitely doesn’t reference the rapper 50 Cent. What could it be?
13. 888B888
This one makes my head spin, so I think it’s good to keep it off the roads.
14. ASSASIN
This one may be too close of a reference to violence. In any case, it’s forbidden.
15. 0HCAVA
Is it forbidden to express your love for coffee on your Montana license plate?
16. BIEB
This seems like a clear reference to the pop star, but we can’t understand why it’s forbidden.
17. COBRA
Again, it’s a clear reference to the snake, but why is it forbidden? Maybe it’s a reference to local gang activity?
18. COWPIE
Cow pies aren’t exactly pleasant, but what made it an illegal Montana vanity plate, we can only wonder.
19. DEADHED
Sorry fans of the Grateful Dead. It could be that it includes the word “dead”, but we’re not sure. This fan nickname is illegal to put on your license plates in Montana.
20. FROGR
The only thing we could imagine this references is the 1980s arcade game “Frogger”. Apparently, you can’t put FROGR on your Montana license plate.
21. G0WILLE
“Go Willy!”. It sounds like someone cheering for a friend. Any idea why this is a banned Montana license plate?
22. H20BOY
Is it a reference to the movie or something else? We’re not sure. It seems like a nice reference, but apparently, it’s forbidden to put it on your MT license plates.
23. INQBUS
This is a clear reference to the famous rock band. Incubus fans in Montana can’t show their love for the band on their license plates.
24. 0YELLER
Another clear reference, but this time to a classic movie. But we’re really curious why it’s not allowed on Montana license plates.
25. P0WKNG
Montana’s ski enthusiasts might be disappointed that this one is forbidden. It’s interesting that Montana license plate laws deemed it unsuitable.
26. R
Just a single letter. Is it a reference to R-rated films? Something else? This was the only single letter we saw on the list.
27. 02BFREE
We have no explanation for why this is a banned Montana license plate either. Any ideas?
28. ZOO
This is a clear reference to either a place where they keep animals or the town of Missoula, whose nickname is “Zoo”. But I have no idea why it’s a banned Montana license plate.
29. ZZBFGZZ
This seems like a completely random grouping of letters. But it must mean something.
30. YN0T
Why not YN0T? Apparently, this question is not an option when creating your personalized Montana license plates.
